National Moral Failure
China is just one example of a nation which tried to build a society void of a moral foundation. The Chinese communist party officials want to be worshipped as gods themselves so they have abolished all forms of religion and even imprison Christians within factory prisons. These Christians are forced to labor long hours and are kept in a factory prison without heating or air-conditioning. They are given one meal a day but if they do not make production quotas they are beaten and denied any food whatsoever. It is no surprise that this nation is without a moral foundation because they removed the Bible and made it illegal and thus they removed the source of all morals from their own society.
This is why that every project they build has been cheated and stolen from by corrupt people involved with it. They have newly built bridges and dams and apartment buildings which had to be demolished because they were unsafe. These projects were built as substandard by the cheating contractors who embezzled as many funds as possible from these projects.

Many new buildings and bridges and other infrastructure in China have been demolished because of substandard conditions caused by theft of materials by dishonest (morally bankrupt) contractors.

The fact remains that no nation can progress without a moral foundation of God’s word – the Bible. If they attempt to just copy teh free enterprise system (without a moral foundation) then it is like building a high tower on loose sand. It cannot last long because righteousness exalts a nation and is the foundation for all functional business environments.
Proverbs 14:34 (NASB95)
34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.
The reason that righteousness exalts a nation is because God will personally bless and prosper those nations who operate in righteousness and do what is right. Sin is a disgrace to any people and this can be seen in the operation of a godless nation like Communist China which bans the bible and persecutes and imprisons their Christians. If everyone from top to bottom are all corrupt and they all cheat and steal then their economy cannot progress. They will constantly be rebuilding failed building projects and roads and bridges and other infrastructure. They cannot progress when they are forced to constantly rebuild substandard building projects that were ruined by graft and corruption and theft of materials.
The greatest thing any group of people can do to build a prosperous nation is to teach the word of God and promote righteousness and godly morals as found in the bible.
Teaching God’s Word Prospered the Nation
2 Chronicles 17:7–13 (NASB95)
7 Then in the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
8 and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of the LORD with them; and they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
10 Now the dread of the LORD was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
11 Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.
12 So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.
13 He had large supplies in the cities of Judah, and warriors, valiant men, in Jerusalem.
King Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater in power and prosperity so much so that all of the surrounding nations feared him and did not dare to attack the nation of Jehoshaphat. He sent out teachers to all of the cities of Judah for the purpose of having them teach the people God’s word (the Jewish Torah). These bible teachers carried the book of the law of the Lord with them and went throughout all of the cities of Judah and taught the people God’s word. This resulted in great prosperity because righteousness exalts a nation and righteousness comes from teaching the moral values contained in God’s word. This is the reason that surrounding nations feared King Jehoshaphat and brought tribute to him and caused his nation to prosper. Also righteousness causes the business environment to thrive when everyone keeps their word and no on cheat or scams and so they can prosper. If everyone is cheating and scamming and behaving in godless manner – then no business environment can thrive because business must be established upon truth and integrity and doing what is right and having honest business practices.
