Children Can Absorb Languages

We would like to petition the Russian government to grant our people a [First Generation Language Learning Exemption]. This means that the first generation of adult people (which move to Russia) will not be required to learn the language. However, the children of our migrant pioneers will be able to learn Russian easily. There are already numerous languages and cultures found within Russia so we can easily adapt a multilingual language program for educating our children to become multilingual. It will be good to start this multilanguage program by the time our children reach five-years-old (when they have the highest number of neurological brain connections).

It can be difficult for adults to acquire a new language (in addition to their own native language). I have traveled extensively as an international missionary for over 29-years and I have often witnessed the fact that the children of the foreign missionaries (living in a foreign country) can acquire languages without study. The children were able to just “absorb” the language after only a few months while their own parents might labor for years to acquire a new language by study. I have found a video by a neurologist which explains that children have 50% more neuron connections in their brains by age of five than adults have for the rest of their lives. This is the reason that children can quickly absorb a foreign language simply by being around other native kids who speak that language in a foreign country.
